The Flag Thing
I've been asked my so many people about the Canadian flags plastered all over Canadian's backpacks. And it really is pretty silly. Because we ALL have them. I actually get surprised remarks because mine is so small!
Still, it's interesting that a whole Country could be so paranoid of being mistaken for Americans that we've become rediculous to everyone else.

Oh, that Canadian identity thing. Be fun to see if people figured out where you're from without one.
I am so enjoying this trip of yours.
There was an article in the paper last week about a discovery of cave paintings just north of Rome - can't remember the town. The earliest known painted representations of animals - lions and cattle (I think it was cattle). Might be interesting to see if it's open to the public.
Glad to hear you are over your cold.
When in London, we had some ask where our flag was...apparently we're not allowed to travel without either.
Well I bumped into a girl from Poland in Genova who guessed I was Canadian without seeing the maple leaf. But I think that's just because she mistook my language confusion for being a Quebecois. She asked me if I had just come from France and I responded "Oui - Si - Yes" not yet having figured out where I was. But because I responded with Oui first, she thought I was Canadian.
